Flatbed CDL-A Driver Jobs: Start Your Career with Beemac Trucking
If you’ve hauled flatbed before, you already know there’s a lot that happens before the truck ever starts moving.
Chains have to be in the right place. Straps need to be tight. Binders have to be checked. Depending on the load, you may need edge protectors or a completely different securement setup.
The video above shows a little of what that looks like.
At Beemac Trucking, we take load securement seriously because there’s a lot riding on it. The driver needs to be safe, everyone else on the road needs to be safe, and the customer expects their freight to arrive the way it left.
It’s also a good example of the kind of drivers we want on our team.
Right now, Beemac Trucking is hiring CDL-A drivers, including experienced flatbed drivers and qualified drivers who are interested in learning flatbed.
Looking for CDL-A Drivers
We have CDL-A driving opportunities in different parts of the country, including local, regional and over-the-road positions.
Some drivers come to Beemac with years of flatbed experience. Others have plenty of experience behind the wheel but haven’t hauled open-deck freight before.
If you’re in that second group, don’t automatically rule out flatbed.
Qualified CDL-A drivers may be eligible for Beemac’s paid flatbed training. You’ll learn the things that are different about pulling a flatbed, including how to properly secure freight using chains, straps, binders and other equipment.
There’s a learning curve, and we don’t expect somebody new to flatbed to know everything on day one.
We’re looking for drivers who are willing to learn, pay attention and do things the right way.
Why Make the Move to Flatbed?
Flatbeds aren’t for everybody.
There’s more physical work involved. You’ll be outside securing loads when it’s hot, cold or raining, and the freight you haul can look completely different from one day to the next.
But that’s also what a lot of flatbed drivers like about it.
You’re involved with the freight you’re hauling. You have to look at the load, figure out how it needs to be secured and make sure everything is where it should be before you pull out.
After you’ve been doing it for a while, you build skills that can open the door to different types of freight and more opportunities within trucking.
For drivers who don’t want every day to look exactly the same, a flatbed can be a good fit.
Why Work for Beemac Trucking?
We know CDL-A drivers have plenty of choices when they start looking for another job.
Pay matters. Home time matters. So does having freight to move and being able to get somebody on the phone when you need help.
That’s what we’ve worked to build at Beemac.
Depending on the position and location, opportunities with Beemac can include:
- Competitive driver pay
- Local, regional and OTR positions
- Home-daily opportunities in select markets
- Paid flatbed training for qualifying CDL-A drivers
- Medical, dental and vision benefits for company drivers
- 401(k) and paid time off
- Driver and operational support
- Consistent freight opportunities
- Employee Stock Ownership Plan participation
There’s another part of Beemac that’s a little different from a lot of trucking companies.
We’re 100% employee-owned.
The people working here have a stake in the company they’re helping build. That includes the drivers out there doing the work every day.
Safety Starts Before You Pull Out
A lot of being a good flatbed driver comes down to things that can seem pretty small.
Checking a strap one more time.
Looking at a chain and deciding it needs to be adjusted.
Walking around the trailer before leaving instead of assuming everything is good.
Stopping down the road and checking the load again.
Those few extra minutes matter.
We want our drivers to get the freight where it needs to go, but we want them to do it safely. There isn’t a load out there that’s worth cutting corners over.
That’s why proper load securement gets so much attention at Beemac.
Already a Flatbed Driver? Let’s Talk.
If you’ve been pulling a flatbed for years, you already understand what’s happening in the video.
You know what it’s like to throw straps, tighten chains, check binders and walk around the load one more time before climbing back into the truck.
We’re looking for drivers with that kind of experience.
We’re also interested in talking with experienced CDL-A drivers who are ready to learn flatbed and add another skill to what they can do behind the wheel.
If you’re qualified and willing to learn, we can help teach you how we do things at Beemac.
Beemac Trucking Is Hiring CDL-A Drivers
We’ve been around trucking long enough to know drivers aren’t looking for another big sales pitch.
You want to know what kind of work is available. You want to know what you can earn, how often you’ll get home and whether the people you work with are going to treat you right.
Those are the conversations we want to have.
If you’re an experienced CDL-A driver looking for your next opportunity, or you’ve been thinking about making the move into flatbed trucking, take a look at what’s available with Beemac Trucking.
